OK, it's Biden. As a registered and contributing Dem, I know that this was a bad choice because of Biden's anti-gun record, and will make this a VERY uphill fight. In fact, it might have sacrificed OH, FL, much of the Midwest, and some of the Southwest.
Let's look (again) at the history of assault weapons bans and Dem losses. It's a given that assault weapons bans tend to motivate the Pub base and get 'em all riled up, in addition to stripping voters from Dems into the "hell, I'm just staying home" column.
Look, I like Biden's foreign policy experience. But there were better options.
This diary is not about guns, gun rights, assault weapons bans etc. per se - comments about them are off topic and belong in your own diary. This diary is about why Joe Biden's views on gun control will make it harder for us to win, and may likely lead to a Democratic loss, a McCain win, and a brand-new Iran War. Again, it doesn't matter what you want regarding guns or gun rights, it matters whether you want a Dem in the White House. IMHO, the key to this is to get the "assault weapons ban" language out of the party platform NOW so Biden doesn't get that horrible, election-losing albatross hung around his neck.
